Delta Chi at the University of Alberta
Friendship, Character, Justice, Education… Est. 1995

History

On October 13, 1890 eleven law students at Cornell University formed a Law Fraternity, Delta Chi. In 1922, the Fraternity officially went “general”, thus opening its membership to men in all areas of study. Delta Chi, in 1929, became the first fraternity to officially abolish the hazing practices associated with “hell week”.

There are 131 chapters and colonies operating throughout the United States and Canada. Distribution roughly follows the distribution of colleges and universities across the continent. Delta Chi has just over 98,000 initiates.

Colonized on April 1st 1995, the Alberta chapter of this proud fraternity was chartered only two years after on 1997. Since the colonization and chaptering of this fraternity at the University of Alberta, the Alberta Chapter has been an active member Greek community. Running philanthropic events such as “We Want Your Pants” and the “Delta Chi 500″ as well as community events such as leaf raking and food drives, the Alberta Chapter has established a record for community service.
